Steam taking up too much cpu
I use a 3570k@4.6ghz and the steam.exe and gameoverlayui.exe uses 25% of the cpu each!
and my explorer.exe uses 25% after moving a lot of files and i have to restart but that's another issue.
So I guess steam isn't working well in my system is it? My cpu is not top notch but I think it suffices the requirements of steam

Do you encounter problems like slowdowns?
jajj978 Jan 21, 2015 @ 11:32am
yes, and when I eliminate steam, my cpu usage is like 10-20%

well guess no one's helping me out but i found out i can turn steam off after starting the game
There is something wrong on your computer.
What does consume 10-20% in idle?

You've got a problem then, if you're not running any programs, your CPU usage should not be 10-20%. Even with Steam and LibreOffice open, I'm only using 1% CPU.

well i marked your word and googled all the suspicious processes and removed it and somehow
the usage dropped drastically. i haven't checked with explorer.exe problem but the major problem has been solved. thanks man
airmikee/sorry if i mislead you. i said that to prove steam is the process using so much cpu. i have a lot of chrome turned on and some miscellaneous stuff running

WHAT??
jajj978 Jan 21, 2015 @ 1:07pm
well all the suspicious process i removed were unnecessary nothing malwarelike

some processes turned out to be ati drivers and one called imagesaferstart. i googled it and found out that it's some kind of drm/copyright related program. it's a program you would be used to if you were in korea and want to do some internet banking or you know things requiring high security levels. people say it is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ program and may have interferences with other programs
jajj978 Jan 21, 2015 @ 1:28pm
ok i tested moving a lot of files and the cpu usage went down right after finishing. i guess imagesaferstart was the problem since i don't think ati drivers might interfere with explorer.exe
thanks to you all for helping me out. have a good whatever part of day your having
