Every time I log into Steam in Firefox it thinks I'm logging on from a new computer
As the title says. Every time I try to log into Steam in my browser (such as through TF2outpost.com) it says I'm using a new computer and need to enter the code that I get emailed. So I enter the code, but the next day it says the same thing. Happened at least once a week for the last 5 or so months.

Not sure if it's related or not but I am also incapable of sending TF2 item trade offers through my browser (Firefox or Chrome) and the only way around it is opening the Steam browser within TF2 by shift-tabbing while in game.

Make sure you have cookies enabled (for the Steam sites, at least) and you don't delete your cookies, and you don't use programs like CCleaner or the like to delete them.
Cookies cleared

Under Firefox Options>Privacy>History it says: "Firefox will Remember History... and keep cookies from websites you visit." I'm assuming that's the option I want?

Yes, but you also have to not delete them, or run programs that delete them. Sometimes certain programs and computer cleaning softwares get setup on schedules to clean things, and cookies are usually the first to go.

This happens with most websites, as their cookies have expiration dates. There isn't much that can be done, unless you log in a few times a day.

EDIT: Whether you run a cleaner program or not changes nothing - as cookies often expire anyhow. TirithRR's points are moot in your case.

How do I fix this then? Every time I enter the new activation code it prompts me to name the computer and browser I'm using, and if I type in a name I used previously it says I've already used that name and must pick a new one.

Well I certainly don't delete them manually, how do I know what software will delete cookies without asking me? The only ones I can think of right now that I have are McAfee... hell, utorrent? RaidCall? I'm at a loss. Is there someway I can confirm that the issue is in fact cookies?

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do except log in more often. For "humble bundle" for example, if I don't log in everyday, I have to do the same thing you do. It's annoying to be certain, but the cookies from places like humble bundle or steam have been put in place for security reasons.

EDIT: cookies that expire are there for one reason - to protect your account. Whether we want that extra layer or not, it exists :/ I know the frustration, I do that almost every time as well.

EDIT 2: Not sure if this will help to explain, but...

This can't be true. My boyfriend sends TF2 trade offers through his browser all the time and steam doesn't ask him to verify the browser/computer every time. We both log on at least twice a week if not once a day. If this is true then why are there no others complaining about it online?

A good test would be to login to your account on your boyfriends comp and see if it has the same issue, if not then it is a problem with your computer.

Usually it can be caused by people running CCleaner or a similar program, no Microsoft default programs that come with windows should affect it. You could try and use only Internet Explorer (I know it's painful xD) to see if it has the same issue.
