Does a prepaid Visa card count as a credit card?

So if you go to the top right corner of your steam browser and click your name, then click account details, and on the right of that screen under where it says your wallet balance it has your credit card, can I put in a $20 prepaid Visa there? Or does it actually have to be a real credit card.

Yes you can use it on Steam as a credit card, but you may have a problem with some cards. I do not suggest using pre-paid debit cards. In addition to being a ripoff (fees, lack of protections/support, no rewards) they also have trouble on some internet sites like Steam. Due to the high amount of attempted credit card fraud on Steam, they take a couple extra measures to verify the billing name and info that you submit is the same that the card issuer has on file. Since prepaid cards don't have that info by default purchases can often fail. Most card companies will allow you to contact the number on the back of the card for you to attach your billing info to the card.

In all honesty, in the future, your best bet would really be to just go to a local store and use the prepaid card to buy a Steam gift card if that is an option for you.

No but a phone number/website is usually on the back of the vast majority of cards. If not there is usually some kind of document that comes with it explaining terms and conditions and contact info.

Yes the security code should be on the back of the card and the expiration is either on the front of the card or is a set amount of time after activation.

I've used prepaid visa giftcards before so it should work. Some of them will need you to register the card for online use but there shouldn't be any issue.
