Modes of payment?
I was wondering if there are other ways to pay for games on Steam for those who do not have a credit card? For example can we buy "gift cards" like you can for iTunes ?

I'm not sure Gamestop still carries them, but call a Gamestop or Electronics Boutique[also owned by Gamestop] store nearest you and ask them if they still sell Steam Wallet cards. You can pay cash or by check there and login to Steam to register the card. Then just use the money you put on it to buy your games from the Steam store page.

For all interested, here in Canada, there's a game franchise called "EB Games" and they sell the Steam Wallet cards !
