I installed a game twice (bought from 2 different places) and they have the same save game...

I installed a game twice, bought from 2 different places, the game is xblades, one from amazon (which was installed first on 10-14-14), and one from steam, I installed the steam version today. When it was done I started the game, saw the continue option, pressed it, and to my slight surprise the save game from the amazon installed game is working on the steam version.
They are installed in 2 different areas, I would assume the save from the amazon game would not be functioning on another game installed elsewhere.
How is this possible, and is it safe to delete the amazon game?

What is steam cloud and file syncing?
Also where are the save files located, I looked but I didnt see anytng marked as saved files, Im new to doing stuff like this

Games don't have any 'normal' way or place of putting game saves.

Some games will store it in the Steam directory, some in my documents, some in a hidden appdata folder, etc. Steam games can utilise a feature called 'Steam Cloud' where when you have finished a game, steam will copy your save file for that game to their servers, so when you log into another machine with the same account, you can download the save and carry on playing easily.

Xblade stores it's save files in :- C:\Users\[computer name]\AppData\Local\XBlades - so regarless of if you have a version from cd or a version on Steam, that's where the game saves will be and that is why you were able to continue.

You should be fine to delete the cd version if you want to as it's probably installed to a different directory than your Steam version.

I see it, the folder appdata was hidden, I made it where the files are not hidden months ago (which I dont remember how to do).
How can you find save files if they are in different areas? 1119am

So I played the game and madea sae just in case
I uninstalled the first game (from amazong,and it asked me if I wanna keep all delete all the save files, I hit no) leaving the steam game
When I starteed it on steam again, it asked me to put in a CD key this time, it didnt last time I guess cause it somehow used the amazon key I had..? That is what I assume
That said the save files dont work
Maybe its attached to the old install somehow, well, I wasnt far in the game so I can restart
