Help with slow download speeds!

I began to download Rage and about 10 minutes later I checked to see it was only downloading at about 200 kbps! My speed test shows about 40 mbps so I was very worried. I restarted steam and watched my download speed. It ramps up to about 5-6 mbps and then slowly declines into a 200 kbps download speed. It happens everytime. Why might this happen?

Haivng the same issue here. I am guessing that something is wrong with the servers.

Same here, trying to download a game, It's getting as low as 30 kbs/sec...normally its 3.5-4.2ish mbs/sec. Checked internet via speedtest.net...no problems. Glad I'm not the only one, something is going on with Steam.

They may have just fixed it, it just cut out and then started going at normal speeds again.

Same issue, I just got 12 MBps internet yesterday to replace my 300 KBps DSL, try a download today and see 200 KBps, almost raged at my internet, only to discover that's not the cause.

Hopefully they'll fix it.

Yeah restarting Steam helps for a minute or so, then it just nosedives.

It worked for a few minutes, then got slow again... I know it's not my internet, because Origin works just fine. I wonder what's up with Steam...?

yea i wonder whats up with steam... my internet is fine and going well above 50bmps download... yet on steam since the last view weeks it looks like Sony PS3 download speed (if not slower).. and i only have this problem on steam..

do's Steam need more servers yet again?
