Blank Screen when launching multiple games

Just as the title says, I have quite a few games in my steam account that when I launch the game my screen goes completely black....? I have to go into task manager in order to close the game out. I have had this problem for awhile now and it is extremely frustrating. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Try troubleshooting with google search , eg:

"Game name" Black screen on launch

and look around on forums about people discussing this problem. Then you narrow it down to what you've done so far and what you tried to fix the problem. OP's post wasn't very informative, that kind that fires questions rather than investigating it.

Things you need:

Updated drivers & Windows update ? (GPU / other hardware drivers)
System specifications match the required minimal specs as described on store page?
Checkout the developers website FAQ on most common issues.
System specifications can be found at Steam (client) > Help > system information

I have windows 8.1 64 bit
i7 4770k
Gigabyte 970 G1 SLI (344.48)

I have also had this same problem with my last card EVGA 780 SC ACX, whenever I would launch certain games (not all of them do this) I will just get a black screen until I ctrl+alt+delete to bring up task manager, and at that point I have to end the task of the specific game I am playing. Currently the games I have been wanting to play Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite both do this. I have gotten Tomb Raider to play every so often but it is not very consistent and usually get a black screen when launching. I have done all of the troubleshooting tips that Steam gives for "missing executable" and none of these steps have helped me solve my problem. You could always try to disable Exclusive Full screen, EVGA precision, or disable one of the cards (Use 1 GPU) and report back if it made any difference. (Remember to reset game settings)


Windowed mode (ALT + ENTER or config/startup edit) might fixes things. There's lots of stuff to find here, and I'm not really sure what else could be causing it.

Honestly it is just an odd situation, I have played it with all my current settings a few times for a few hours. Tomb Raider isnt the only game Im having trouble with either, I also cannot launch BioShock Infinite.
