Low FPS in Source games
I've gotten this weird issue with, what seems to, Source games in general. When I start the games up, they're in the wrong resolution and it auto-detects my recommended settings as low or lowest in some cases. So I go in and change all the settings and max them all out as that shouldnt be an issue for my rig but when I get into a game, I'm averaging 30-40fps and dropping as low as 20fps at times and this is pretty consistent over all the Source games I've tested (L4D, L4D2, CS:Source, TF2 and Gmod). This is only happening among Source games though, everything else I play runs fine.

Drivers are up-to-date and I've tried rolling them back, that didn't help my problem. Any ideas?

My Spec:

i7-4790k 4.0Ghz
MSI Z97 GAMING 5
Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X 4GB
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Verify file integrity of those games. Try to re-install DX-DirectX. You don't need to uninstall anything, just download and run it.

Tried that installer, just tells me my DirectX is up to date. Also verified the integrity but there wasnt anything wrong apparently.
well, then it must be your AMD driver, I guess. I just tested CS:Source with GTX-580 and it runs CS at 250+ FPS at 2560x1440 res :) Tho, I'm nvidia, so ....
Yeah I've been assuming that might be the issue but all attempts at dealing with the driver has been fail thus far xD
You can try to delete local content of CS:Source from Steam and re-install it. Never know, Steam may bring the DX-9c with the new install of the game :)

I lost my PunkBuster-A tonight, for no reason. Never touched the thing. It took few seconds to re-install, but how and why it disappeared from CP/Programs and Features, I have no clue. It's called automagic of MSOS and the rest - lol

I'll give it a shot, just my internet is awful so tried to avoid any full game re-downloading xD
Is the system using the correct GPU? Could it be defaultign to the onboard Intel GPU?
That was my initial thought but according to the console its reading R9 200 series so it must be defaulting correctly.

I may have just stumbled across a solution but I deleted the games so gotta wait to try it out, POS internet connection xD

Have CS:S on hand though and thats now getting around 100fps, still seems low for my spec but its a vast improvement there, hopefully it works for the rest.

And now it seems to work, at least L4D is working so I assume the rest will too.
i only get 150 fps with a i7 2600k and Gtx 1070 it bs
talves ayude la busqueda ademas sirve gracias
I also had that problem and I got rid of it by running this command:
exec config
Hope this works for ya!:steamhappy:
Just to say something, I am having a very similar issue.

It seems that, for some people, Source Engine Games can begin to run poorly for reasons difficult to discover.
