tried to do that, and it comes up saying that a blank custom url is invalid
if i do my trade offer thing in that steamid.io or something it shows up some1 else what can i do to fix it
You cannot opt-out of using custom URLs after you've first set up one though.
Wherever the link requires sustainability, it's recommended to toss in the -- / profiles/<SteamID64> instead.
For example, for me while I have the custom URL for
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Teutep
This is a more permanent link, which leads to my profile as well (non-custom URL):
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198000720538
Your profile (it feels a little silly considering your URL still includes your ID64):
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198086427551/?xml=1
You on SteamID.io (in this context, you'd pay attention to ID64),
