Games running as Background Processes
I know there are already thread regarding this but they aren't specific enough to my situation so I need something different. Basically whenever I play a game (any game) It does the normal launching game process, then nothing. I look in the task manager to find it as a background process and when I press end task it doesn't respond right away. It takes 4 minutes (average) for the process to end. However if I leave the game running it will eventually work, the problem is after like 2 minutes they crash at random intervals ranging from 30 seconds to almost 10 minutes.

What I have tried:
-verifying game cache
-reinstalling games
-reinstalling steam
-removing all game data and starting fresh
-using the registry editor to remove all steam/valve related content
-all the compatibility modes
-resetting my PC
-deleting local content then re-opening a game

NOTE: All of this was tried on 5 different games but all my games have the same problem so none of the above techniques would help me. If it comes to formatting my PC then that is too far, I should not have to do that when every other piece of software on my PC runs fine.

EDIT: It does not open on my task bar or anywhere else. It is only present in the task manager.

when you launch the game move steam out the way and look on you task bar at the bottom of the screen see if its running there,if so click the box/logo on the task bar and it should jump into the game.if this does work and the screen isnt full screen press alt+enter to full screen it, sometimes you need to alt+enter twice, otherwise try google the issue?

It doesn't open on the task bar either. The only evidence that it opened is its presence in the task manager as a background process. I theorize that because my PC thinks its a background process it won't bother to come up on the task bar. However it becomes unstable because it is not supposed to be a background process so it crashes and takes 4 minutes to end the task.

I'm having the same issue as Gordy. I've tried many of the things Gordy listed, without any luck at all. I hope someone reads this post and continues this thread!!
