How do I get a refund for this unplayable game!! (SPORE)
I bought SPORE for my son and he can not connect online.. So I did some reading and found that they shut the server down for the game like a year ago...

So, we were bummed about that, but he said he would play the "single player" game... Which at first worked (With a few corrupted saves).

Now when he logs in, he can not even play.. at all. There are NO stars to click on at all. I spent hours trying to figure out why... At first I thought it was due to the "Network Play Disabled" alert... but that is just for the server.

I did a complete re-install, added firewall exceptions.. no luck.

I then contacted Origin chat help and they had me Delete Temp files, flush my DNS, turn off system auto notifications.. and all that still did not work..

I would love to know how to get my money back on this turd of a game...

Why would you sell and older game that is "No longer supported">???

Sorry for the rant, but its a little fustrating.

If you contacted origin, does this mean you bought it through them? And it works fine still, my brother just bought it recently, and he plays it.

The Spore authentication servers are still working fine

They were down a day or so ago, but the game works fine.

I bought the game from Steam, but the game is an origin game.. thats why I contacted them.

Everything I have read says the servers are down.

Also, he would play the game offline only but NO stars show up for him to select... so he can not play.

Close to 4000 people a day. If you're having an issue contact EA but obviously lots of people are playing the game. So it's far from 'broken or abandonded'

so I contacted EA again and they gave me the run around... said they made some "Internal" changes and to repair the game... lol.

Anyway, it did not work.. BUT ....

I went to steam and did the following:

- Right click SPORE
- Select properties
- Select Local Files
- Select verify integrity of game cache

after it check files, it said: 1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired.

When will this file be reaquired?? I tried restarting game and it didnt work, so I did the above again and came up with the same thing...

Someone please... HELP!!!!

As soon as that message appeared it should of automatically downloaded the file(s) in question just like it downloads a game or update

You can try to ask Staem for a refund, but as I pointed out the game does owrk. The game's authentication servers are onlne. So it's far more likely a local issue than something wiht the game itself.

Yea.. I am sure I wont get a refund.. would rather just get the game to work. Just a little fustrated.

this missing file did not download automatically.... I will mess with it again tomorrow. thanks for the responses.

It's very common for the validation to come up with 1 file wrong. That file is usually a configuration file unique to your system.
