Game text is English on PC but will only play with Japanese text on Laptop.
Hello,
I had bought Gyromancer and played it perfectly fine (in English text) on my PC (Windows 7) yet when I download the game onto my Laptop (Windows 8) the game text / menus are Japanese.

I had deleted and re-installed the game on my Laptop through both Library tab and the gamepage but I cannot get the English version.

I do not know if it matters but my save game did not transfer to the Japanese version and still playable on the English.

Just a few items to add:
I have been playing Marvel Puzzle Quest for months on both systems with no issues.
Steam Client language is set to English
Game language for Gyromancer (In Properties menu) is set to English.

While I have honestly no idea if this will help (nor why this happens if your Steam -client and the game Properties > Language -menu is in English), you can try this anyway:

Hold down your Windows -button and press R
steam://open/console
download_depot 23380 23382

Navigate yourself to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\content\app_23380\depot_23382\
Move the lang.dat to the game folder replacing the Japanese lang.dat -file.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Gyromancer\Lang\

Thanks for that. I will keep this handy for later. I am not the most computer savy person and thought the "Navigate yourself to" was ment to be done in the console now I see its on my own computer.

I think I fixed the issue through trial and error. For whatever reason downloading the game on my PC will set the language to English. When downloading it to the Laptop the game defaulted to Japanese (even though Steam and Game both are set to English). Still the same game / version just different automatic setup by the game. I navigated through the menus (Pressing random options) and changed the language to English in game.

My save was not there because it is local save only I guess and have to transfer the file through a thumbdrive. I thought steam saved all games on their cloud for users but I guess not.

Yeah, could be that it just didn't update the files, in which care verifying the Game Cache File via Properties > Local Files might've done the same.

Glad to hear it's back up and running.
Saves for that game are located in the game folder this time:
Gyromancer_x.dat

If you ever wonder what games have Steam Cloud synchronization, click 'View' > 'Games List' (on the Steam -client, or view the Store -page) and see which games have the Cloud -icon.

Neat. Thank you again. New to Steam even though I had an account for many years. Just play a few games on it so far and this was my first purchase.
When you install the game, you can set the language.

Not on that game, that was why I was having an issue for the laptop. I had everything already set to English and it defaulted to Japanese. Even when clicking the agreement page I clicked the USA flag so it would be in English.

After 6 different installs is when I went through the Japanese menus and found an option to switch it to English in game.
