Refresh Steam Game List?
I recently reinstalled Steam in a seperate folder after running into the steamui.dll error. When I started up steam through the new exe, none of my games were installed. I went and launched Steam through the old exe, and all the games are still uninstalled. I still have all of my games in the old steam folder, along with their saves, so I was wondering if there was a way to refresh my game list without reinstalling around 180GB worth of games.

Copy/move the "common" folder from the old Steam installation to the new one.

//edit// Also copy the .acf files from the "steamapps" folder to the same location in the new installation.

Not to be that guy, but as far as I know this will not work, as Steam will try to create a new folder hierarchy in the location you choose, instead of looking for existing files.

Do it while Steam Client is not running.

duh u knw whom u talking to if u dont knw anything dont speak u can add old steam libraby to there
I do know what I'm talking about. I have attempted exactly what you have described when moving my Steam installation, and it did not work.
I tried to add my old library, but when I selected the Common folder under SteamApps I says "New Steam library folder must be empty". Am I doing something wrong?

As I said, Steam will try to create a new hierarchy in the location you choose. You can't select an existing installation.

Ok, but if I use the copy and paste fix, I will need to cut and paste, since I don't have enough space on my hard drive to make a 180GB duplicate... Will this work fine?

I tried the moving folder fix, and it worked! I ran a few games just to be sure, and all the saves seem to be intact. Thank you both for your help!
Cutting and pasting will work fine, yes. Or you can just drag and drop to move.
