Are u on a Laptop? If Desktop then what Keyboard u have?

Some laptops or keyboards may require u to either press the special F-toggle key;
or press Fn + F# key.

It's a Laptop, but I don't know how to toggle.
What the model of laptop?
Yes some u must press Fn+F# key to use the F keys, as some default to the OEM Laptop keys for whatever those features are that are printed on them; such as Volume Up/Down/Mute; etc...

On some laptops, you have to press Fn and F1 to make F1 happen.
LOL that is exactly what I said.
Looks like all I had to do was fn+[F KEY HERE] to have it function in a game. Thanks people.
There's a BIOS setting that usually controls that and you can reverse that behavior.
