Redeeming gift error.

I purchased a Steam Gift of CS:GO from G2A and when I click on the link to redeem the gift it comes up with an error saying:

"Oops, Sorry.
An error was encountered while processing your request:

There was a problem redeeming the gift. Please try again later, or contact Steam Support for assistance."

Is this an error on Valve's side or not?

Steam Support tickets are a waste of time.

No, the error is down to you. You've purchased a game from an unauthorised site which is notorious for selling stolen or fraudulently obtained keys. CSGO can only be purchased on Steam. You could try again later but the key will almost certainly be revoked even if it gets activated.

Yeah, let me just stop you there as that's where you went wrong. That site is well known for selling stolen/used keys, not helping when things go wrong and being generally untrustworthy. Steam Support probably won't help you as you didn't buy the key from an authorized reseller. If the key doesn't work and that site won't help (which they won't) then you'll have to take more drastic measures to get your money back... including doing a chargeback if necessary.

Good luck. Avoid that site like the plague in future especially when they're selling games through gift form. Notice that the name is also filtered on Steam which shows they are not authorised. At least you haven't activated the gift yet so you should be able to secure a refund if you had the 'Guard' portion enabled on purchase.
