Why are there market listings higher than I'm allowed to set mine?
It's hard to explain my question in the title so I will have to do it here.
Steam tells me the maximum price I can list my items for is £264. But howcome on the market there are listings in my currency for £288. Why can't I list my items for 288 like they can? That's not fair on me, I'm losing out on money while they are making more on their items???

I know it's something to do with currency difference but the maximum market listing in US dollars is $400. And $400 is £262 so it's not dollars.

Another currency example is Russian Rubles and $400 dollars in rubles is 20778. 20778 rubles is £262 again. So where is this £28 difference coming from. Why can't I list my items for 28 pounds more like them?

Because the limit for each currency is not updated as often as the displayed exchange rate.

I still don't get it. It's not US- UK exchange rate as 400 dollars is 262 pounds which is what would show up on the market if it was dollars.

That's only one example. There are many different currencies.
Then I guess I need to find a whole list of the maximum market transaction in currencies and compare that against the current pound

That'd be pointless though. Nothing you can do about it anyway.

The limit is what the limit is. And as the value of currencies rise and fall vs the dollar (mostly falling, these days) the limits are changing.
As an American do you ever see items listed for higher than $400 then?

I don't ever watch the market for items that high in value. I only ever sell cards, so the most I've ever sold an item for is a few dollars.

But, no, I have not seen any items for the equivalent of anything over 400 dollars. But the first time I ever noticed it was when the US Dollar was growing vs the Euro and GBP, so I never had a chance to see what was happening to the listings when the US Dollars was falling compared to the Euro and GBP a couple years ago.
