Steam.exe high CPU usage ( Steam.exe takes 25% of CPU usage )
Hello guys , so recently i had noticed something wrong with Steam. Usually , i have no problems of playing my games . Until 2 days ago , i had this huge CPU usage level , it started to get like 80-100 CPU usage while i was playing my games which was CoD AW , it causes alot of stuttering and huge FPS drops . I dont know whats wrong back then , then i opened task manager then found out , Steam.exe takes 25% of my cpu usage . I thought it was virus but i scanned my computer with MSE but it said no malware or virus . I dont know whats wrong . It can because either steam updates or my computer . Here my specs:
i5 4670 3.4ghz
ram 8gb
gtx 660
hdd 1TB
if anyone else had the same issuse and some solutions and the reason that caused all this , please help me ! Thank you all very much ^^

The funny thing is , i scanned all of those programs that were mentioned in that discussion, eventually , nothing seems to go on a different way :( i located to \AppData\Roaming\Steam\Reversed but it said theres nothing in it with malwarebytes . I really dont know what's wrong here :( i didnt do anything recently , not even downloading anything , just playing GTA V and CoD AW

This is not Steam. This is a malware that mines Bitcoins for its master.

If the malicious file was there, why do you think its clean when a scan says clean?

What about removing the file manually and see what happens?

Guys, what file do you suggest him to remove? There are no malwares for me, no strange folders, nothing bad running and the same problem. 25% CPU usage comes directly from steam.exe, ran from the path its installed. The Thread causing it is "steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection". If i suspend or kill it, steam runs normally till the moment i exit and start it again. Only thing that sometimes help is several restarts of pc, steam://flushconfig and some of those variations. Tried complete uninstall, then manually removed everything steam related i found on folders and registry.. STILL the same problem. Tried Beta.. same problem. Online/offline mode - same problem. Also have to notice, that there's always a delayed startup for steam. After its launched, process steam.exe comes up immediately with 25% cpu usage, but steam window pops up only after 3-5 minutes.
I have the same cpu as author - I5 4670K. I know one guy had the same on AMD laptop.
I am sure there are more people with the same problem who do not even know it exists. I know, because i check what is running and how.
Steam support ignore me on that. The guy with AMD laptop never received an answer and never solved this problem.
Any ideas how to reach higher, so someone finally hear me?

No! When it does, that adds some extra percent of usage to the other thread of steam.exe. Thats the way how every application normaly works, but nothing can change that 25% usage on steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection thread. It's like steam is born with that damn 25% on it. It's not 1 core, load is balanced on all cores. I know from where it is coming, i said that in my previous post, but there is nothing more i can do, except suspending or killing that thread. If i do, steam is usable and i can play games without freezes and cpu fan is silent while idle. Suspending that thread doesn't help with high RAM usage. Those rare situations when steam is running normal (several restarts of PC, flushconfigs, etc) it starts immediately without delays, no 25% cpu usage and ram used around 50-70MB. When it becomes crazy (completely random, can be several hours to 2 days) the 25% usage is back + around 400MB ram usage. My PC is on 24/7 and steam is one of those applications i want to run 24/7 and i want to be able to restart steam without 10 minutes waiting for it to exit/start again. Other applications running 24/7 are utorrent, mirc and Chrome browser. Everything else is inactive and has nothing to do with steam. I was reading, utorrent can impact on steam, so made an experinemt. When i got steam working normal, i immediately exited, restarted my pc, ran utorrent, mirc, browser, was using my pc for a day, like i normaly do. Then launched steam. It was working for several hours. I played ARK, watched some videos on youtube and later noticed again that steam is back to 25% cpu usage....
It's a complete mess... Freaks me out, because Steam Support keeps tickets open forever, do not answer, do not ask questions, information, nothing... They just don't care...
