Keyboard Layout

Hi everyone, I wanted my keyboard to be canadian or US.. (qwerty) but when I'm in-game, the tips I get from the games are refering to an AZERTY (french) keyboard. Ex: when they tell me how to move forward (normally W) it says Z, since Z on a french keyboard is at the same place as the W is on a US keyboard.

The current language/layout when I'm anywhere else on my computer is french canadian/canadian layout so I don't know why steam's games think I want info based on french keyboards.

So the language and keyboard type is set to US in the Windows Control Panel?

No the language is canadian french and layout is canadian (it's the same as US) so it shouldn't be a problem. But when I want to change the controls of an action in-game it's like I'm using a french layout. If i change a control and enter ''W'' for it, the letter ''Z'' appears for that action like if I typed on a french keyboard. So the tips I'm getting are a bit confusing.
