MasterCard - Paying games over weekend?
Hello, I am going to buy GTA V, but the only way I can do so, is with a credit card - Master Card. My bank does not send nor receive payments during weekends, so if I pay for the game now, will I get it on Monday when Steam gets the payment verification? I have googled a lot, but none of the results answer my question.
Thanks.

It's would be safer to make the payment when the card and account are up and functioning. Once the funds are on your Steam Wallet, you could make Steam purchases when you require.

You can try to make the purchase now.

If it fails; it will likely either be Failed or Pending.
Given it goes Pending and your money doesn't get withdrawn; you can cancel that from https://store.steampowered.com/account/store_transactions

My card doesn't send or receive payments upon weekends either, but the funds get put on hold and once it's the business day, the processing starts. I still get access to the game immediately.

You can still use credit cards and debit cards on the weekend, even if your bank doesn't actually transfer the funds until the weekday.

Steam will attempt to authorize the transaction, and Mastercard would approve it, or decline it, based on fraud protection and balance line of credit checks.

You may see something on your billing statement like:

April 20th, 2015 - <Charge Details> (Activity Occured on April 19th, 2015).

Phrasing, or even if they mention it, will depend on your bank/card.

Here's an example:

A purchase made on a Sunday, not actually deducte until Monday, but still approved and processed on Sunday, got my game, everything worked just fine. Note on statement that even though the transaction was processed on Monday, the activity occured on Sunday.

Thank you and all the other people! I still have to wait untill Monday, or just go get a PSC, but I am lazy for that lol.

You should be able to make the purchase today (if you have the money available). Mastercard will handle the waiting and hold the funds until Monday when your bank actually does the transaction. But the purchase should still work.

Credit card verifications are for removing MARKET restrictions.

You can use your credit card on weekends to purchase steam games from the store.

When he said "verification" he didn't mean the Steam Credit Card verification system. He is concerned that if his bank doesn't do business on the weekends that Steam will not get the payment confirmation if he tries to use his card.

But, Credit Cards work on an authorization and fund holding system, seperate from the actual transaction. So it doesn't matter if the money moves right away, or a few days later, they get the authorization and confirmation right away.

Ah, … my misunderstanding, then. I've been corrected.

*squints eyes in warning at TirithRR* … ;P … (just kidding!)

The OP can use their Master Card at ANY time, independent of their bank's working hours.

That's one of the perks of credit cards.

The money still typically gets put on hold.
That's the point.

That doesn't matter, Terminus. It's Master Card handling the transaction, whether or not the bank actually moves the money until Monday.

As I indicated on my screenshot, with a VISA purchase made on Sunday, not actually processed until Monday by my bank, but I still was able to make the successful pruchase on Sunday.

For most cases it should be fine (since an external party processes the payment), but sometimes processing may vary. Individual banks and financial instituions may have differing practices, thus it could lead to complications in a minority of cases, in a few countries.

Just to clarify - I was referring to this specific case, credit card payments were restricted (would be processed during the next working day) during the weekend. For a number of users - bank working hours and the time of purchase, are independent.

I would be honestly very surprised if there existed any major credit card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express, any of their foriegn counterparts, etc) who declined a transaction because it happened outside of the normal business hours of the account holder's bank.

That goes against the entire credit card system in general, and the reasons why it was created. To do transactions quickly and easily, without being tied to operating hours of a bank or financial institution.

Yup, since processing is conducted by a few established, global brands, with structured processes.
