Can't login Steam.
I've had Steam for years and today it will not login. I tried to reset my password and the code they send via email doesn't work. I submitted a ticket but they won't respond. I just paid for GTA 5 plus my other 100+ games on Steam and I can't login to play.

It will not go into offline mode.
I've rebooted.
My internet works fine.
I've reinstalled Steam.
I've tried to use Family mode to enable my games but it asks me to login - and I can't login.
I just want to play my games I paid for.
I have not changed my password or email.
It sends the code to my email and the code does not work.
Deleted Blob file to get steam to update and that didn't work.
Reinstalled Steam. That didn't work.

I don't want to delete all my games and then have to reinstall. I just spent a day installing GTA 5. Got to play it for two days and now I can't login.

Halp!

If using a PC
- Please exit Steam, and navigate to the …\Steam\ directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\Steam - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
- Delete all of the files in this folder except: Steam.exe and the \Steamapps\ and \Userdata\ folders
- Restart your computer and test the issue again

It says: specified account doesn't exist or username/pass is wrong. I click the retrieve lost account button and it sends me a code to my email. I enter that code into the field where steam asks for it. Steam tells me that code is wrong. My username is my email address so it's not that.

I feel your pain! I have a terrible time bringing Steam up and if I want to keep it up it is contingent on keeping my pc on all the time. No reboots! What gives?????

I have no idea. All I did was put it in sleep mode last night and now I can't login. It's driving me crazy.

Don't think I've ever heard of that happening....

For me, though our setups may be different, my account name is not my email address. I have an email address associated with my account (same one I receieve resets on), but my account name is different from that. Since the reset is not working for you, I would start there until you get a response from support.

Just to clarify, and bear with me here, if you have an email "receipt" from a previous Steam purchase, you can confirm the account name as the first line in the email should refer to you by your account name (i.e. Dear Accountname,)

I contacted support. I have not heard back from them. I don't think it was hijacked.

People on Reddit said that it is happening to people who have old accounts where their username is their email. That is what my account is.

All I can do is wait.

Dredgeho -

That could be the case then. I'm coming up on 6 years this summer, but if you've been around longer than that, then maybe your legacy account name is the issue. Not sure if it affects logins for Steam, but you could flush the dns cache or release/renew your dhcp lease. I sort of doubt that's the issue, but might be worth a crack.

To resolve this issue for me: I had to reset the password based on my steam login, not my email address.

Just adding to this thread as it might help someone who is having similar reset password issues to me. I had log-in problems and didn't hear from support. I repeatedly tried resetting my password with password accepted successfully results, but I couldn't log in. I ended up figuring out I had 2 steam accounts which are both based on the same email address. When I was resetting using my email address I was resetting a really old steam account I had setup for a Half-Life 2 purchase and that I had forgotten existed.
