- Please exit Steam, and navigate to the …\Steam\ directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\Steam - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
- Delete all of the files in this folder except: Steam.exe and the \Steamapps\ and \Userdata\ folders
- Restart your computer and test the issue again
u sure ur acc is not hijacked something ?u try to logging in phone etc or browser etc? if u cant loging anywhere contact steam support is ur best bet :-/ and it can take a week or so
For me, though our setups may be different, my account name is not my email address. I have an email address associated with my account (same one I receieve resets on), but my account name is different from that. Since the reset is not working for you, I would start there until you get a response from support.
Just to clarify, and bear with me here, if you have an email "receipt" from a previous Steam purchase, you can confirm the account name as the first line in the email should refer to you by your account name (i.e. Dear Accountname,)
That could be the case then. I'm coming up on 6 years this summer, but if you've been around longer than that, then maybe your legacy account name is the issue. Not sure if it affects logins for Steam, but you could flush the dns cache or release/renew your dhcp lease. I sort of doubt that's the issue, but might be worth a crack.
Just adding to this thread as it might help someone who is having similar reset password issues to me. I had log-in problems and didn't hear from support. I repeatedly tried resetting my password with password accepted successfully results, but I couldn't log in. I ended up figuring out I had 2 steam accounts which are both based on the same email address. When I was resetting using my email address I was resetting a really old steam account I had setup for a Half-Life 2 purchase and that I had forgotten existed.
