Your so called fix isn't going to work for long. Everyone has been able to play the game every once in awhile. I've been able to play without doing a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing. Then the next time I try to get on, back to not working. And I'm sure you already realize this. Ignorance is bliss though.

Erebus, the post that I posted a few days ago has worked. I've played the game steadily since. Multple times over several days. As I said, IN MY SITUATION, I found that the video settings were incorrect and that optimizing the game forced something to reset.
You may be correct inevitably that the game will fail again. Perhaps I've been lucky. We'll see. But my error didn't happen every few games; it was every game. If it was going to happen it would have by now.

I've changed the video settings. Many times. Hell, I even took my video card out and used intel integrated graphics. Nothing makes a difference. It's not even a vram error to begin with. It's a hard disk error. And the game works for no reason at all every 1 out of 30 launches. Something they did with the update has screwed it up. The only logical fix was the DNS fixes people are reporting. It is possible the game messed up on network issues. Sledgehammer has always had connection issues and it wouldn't be a surprise if they messed it up even further. But no one is doing anything wrong. No one's setup needs to be fixed. It is the game.
I was trying to get on all day. 30 different times. I was just now able to get on. It's completely random.

I sort of bought that PC for gaming only. I hope the community gets back to us before we get more and more angrier..
The solution to go and change this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7 if you are in windows 7 or if you are in windows 8 then you need to go and search up "view advanced system settings" click on the settings button in the "performance" section and go to the advanced tab in there. Then you change the virtual memory and you click on custom size mine worked with 500MB minimum and 4595 Maximum
I've found it irritating for YEARS now that EVARYTHANG MUSTSES LIVE UNDER xyz:/path/to/steam/client/install/folder/steamapps when there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for that! And NEVER has been!

If it is taking so long to solve the problem, why do not downgrade to previous "all people-playable version" ?
This way everyone can play while developers debug the last "some people (but not all) playable version".
