Steam ssfn file making me mad.
a few days ago i had a cyber attack (didn't clicked on any links or anything else) , i just connected to my computer then i see 3 ssfn files randomly , placed, two in my steam files and 1 outside next to my bin icon,i immediatly rebooted all my computer, deleted everything then redownload my window back. then i install steam, connect to my account and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a ssfn file is still in my steam's file.

-any tips how do i get rid of it for good ? cause i keep deleting it and it keeps comming back.

It's supposed to be there.
I mean it stores your SteamGuard authorization. It's a vital file.
ssfn files are bad...i need a proof from somebody else too. i can't just trust you. this file probably is the remains of a virus.
It isn't.

The only thing related to SSFN and scams are when the victim UPLOADS the file somewhere else.

SSFN itself isn't a virus, remove it and you'll have to re-authorize your computer to SteamGuard. You can even try this by not removing the file and then seeing SteamGuard not asking you for the e-mail sent code the next time if you do tick 'Remember this Computer'.

Teutep is correct. The SSFN file is part of the Steam Guard system.
well i have long ago clicked on a phising link but managed to get rid of it afterwards, i hope this ssfn file is not the remains of that long (censored) link i pushed from 4 months, does it gets destroyed if you reboot your entire computer? because i think this one is sticked to my computer and my scans doesn't say it's a virus

It won't get destroyed as long as you keep using Steam.

I haven't clicked a single scam link and I have one, it's normal.
you can't imagine how scared i was, the 3 ssfn files i had was viruses i know, i got rid of them, so you are telling me that the one after i remade my entire computer is totally banana safe? right?
If you formatted your computer, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
i trust you. you probably don't care but i am a veeeerryyyyyy stressed person. when i have connected to my computer and saw those 3 files, i went nuts, (they randomly appeared, didn't do anything before i turned off the computer). so yeah it was probably a random pirate attack, then i rebooted.
yes , i formatted my computer. after the 3 ssfn files, then after finishing remaking my window 7, changing all my passwords, questions and emails, i started using steam and there was a new one(ssfn), so i am like "wtf i just removed you", but you're saying this one is safe so. yeah... i feel a little better.
No worries, I think it's better to be cautious, than the opposite. :)
