Alipay charged money and steam status went to failed
so I recently moved to China. I wanted to pre-order GTAV on steam, so I went through payment methode "Alipay". Everything went smooth, they took my money. After 1 hour of "pending" on my purchase status it changed to "failed". Of course Alipay charged me already so no way to get refund.
So i've reached them through their terible customer support website (I heard steam customer service is pretty bad(never experienced it before actually)). And joined them the copy of my bill well most of bill is in Chinese characters but you can read clearly GTAV pre-order on it.

What are my chances to get the game?
How long you think it takes to get an answer from their customer support team?

kind regards

If your status went to Failed, it means Steam doesn't have your money.

Wait 3-10 business days and AliPay should return your money; if not - contact their support.

What are my chances to get the game?
None, 0%.

The funds are probably on hold by them, in which case they should.

I consider its steam fault, i went through their website to pay at first. They offered me to pay with Alipay, if they provide untrusted service I should not be the victim of all this mess.
I work for a videogame company to, when there is a payment issue we refund client asap then we check with partners.
thanks for your answers anyway Teutep, appreciate it!

Steam support won't be able to help as it's Alipay who have the money on hold and Valve didn't get anything. Just wait for then to release the hold.

Steam lists it as "Failed". So Steam did not take the money.

In these cases, most banks will still allow the purchase to go through, setting the funds for the purchase amount aside, despite this information being incorrect. Steam will always decline a transaction that fails an address or CVV check. Steam will not collect the funds that your bank has put on hold. Your bank will release the funds to you at a later date per their policy. This can often take up to 10 business days.

Ignore the part about the AVS/CVV2 checks if they don't apply to Alipay, but the process is the same. Alipay will return the money after a few days, because Steam never took it.

It's not Steam's fault. It's how all electronic payments work, across all stores. You just never notice it until something fails.
