How to fix the problem where your internet browser opens steam URL s by default.
I had trouble with this: Firefox was by default opening my steam .urls when I clicked on them. After poking about for far too long for a simple problem, I discovered how to fix it. If you have this problem, right click the .url file (The shortcuts steam use) and click "Open with" then "Choose default program" and then, here I thought it should be Steam Bootstrapper, but - oddly enough you should select (On windows anyway) "Internet Browser". It should have a little blue house icon. This seems counter-intuitive, but it is what it should have been before you somehow accidentally set it to open in your actual internet browser (as in, firefox, or internet explorer, chrome, etc). So yes. You set the default program to open steam .urls (which are the shortcuts to games you have in your steam library), very specifically to "Internet Browser".

I just wanted to post this, because whenever I have a problem, I look it up, solve it, and never post about my findings. I noticed help about this problem was remarkable scarce, and so I felt obliged to post how to fix this. I'm just posting what I wish I could have seen when I had this problem. If I haven't been clear enough, do please post a reply asking for further information. If I help at least one person in the future searching for this problem, I'll be very happy.

YOU HELPED ME!!!! Such an easy explanation. Just choose the house icon. All the other results were so in-depth, and how to change the URL to a shortcut, etc etc. Mwah!
