Does moving your steam library from your HDD to SSD make your game perform faster?
If so, how? Please explain in detail - thank you.

Depends entirely on the game and how disk demanding it is.

Theoretically yes (with the loading screens mostly.) I came to realize me putting my L4D2 on my SSD was a rather pointless move, because I'll still have to wait for the other people to connect through too so I can actually play it.

SSD are faster because they don't have mechanical parts that move. The seek time, The time taken to find and start moving data from disk to memory, is much lower. Also the speed of data transfer is higher.

That said, in terms of game performance, its only going to make loading of levels and on the fly textures quicker. Having the game itself on a SSD will not improve frame rate once data is loaded. Any well developed game should be pulling texture data in before it needs to be rendered.

However having the OS' swap file on the SSD will give a minor over all performance boost.

Reminds me of RAGE when I think of the slow texture rendering which after around 10-20 seconds turned instantly to 60fps; not sure if SSD would've done that game any better. Probably?

Defiantly make the textures on games like Bordelands and loading games mch faster, I specially noticed it on Skyrim with all the mods I added...

SSD's have gotten a lot better since they initially game out, both in performance and reliability. However, they will eventually reach end-of-life with how may writes they can achieve to the disk. A good SSD will properly go into read-only mode, so you can get your data, but this isn't always the case. SSD's are great, but they there are still many improvements to be made. I have an SSD in my main desktop, which I use Clonezilla on once a month, and a SSHD in my Steam Machine.

price/performance/no. of games with a real benefit from an SSD = waste of time ATM may aswell get 2 x 2TB HDDS and run Raid it would be just as good @ 300Mb/s+ on the outer with modern drives...

sure ppl move the games there playing most on to SSD but thats just killing writes not that it would make a huge difference you would most likly have a new SSD before hitting the Write Wall..
