Problem retrieving lost password
Has anyone had problem with the verification code Steam sends to your email when trying to reset/retrieving lost password?

When i copy/paste the code into the dialog field and click next Steam says that the code is incorrect. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I´ve been trying for 5 days now, allways the same thing.

And can i expect a long wait before i get an answer from support?

A few weeks, most likely. And yes, I have heard of people having this problem before.

Thank you for the information!
Then lets see if i can calm down and try to suppress the psychotic episode that´s been coming on...

I'm having this issue right now. Was this ever resolved?

Not for me. Did not have proof of ownership according to Steam. Having access to the
mail-account my Steam client is registred to is apparently not proof enough....
You also need either a credicard receipt, Paypal receipt or a CD-Key with yor mail-account.
I bought my Steam client 12 years ago and i have none of that ♥♥♥♥, especially not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ box with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CD-Key.....

You can prove you own the account via having a old recipt from when you purchased a game on Steam, you get a email afterwards. also a photo of a bank statement can also prove the purchase via the card used.

People get their emails compromised all the time. Keyloggers, weak passwords, using the same password on multiple sites... you really, really don't want access to your email to count as proof you are the owner of the account.

Like i said, it was 12 years ago, i have none of that left.
Do you keep 12 years old receipts?

You're telling me that in 12 years since opening the account, you've never bought a game using a credit card or PayPal? Because that's the only circumstances where Steam would be asking for something from 12 years ago.

I have purchase receipts going back about 7 years, though obviously not that far on Steam as I haven't been on Steam for 7 years. If I had to provide proof of ownership, I could find at least four or five purchases in the last year I could use.

//edit// You can also provide Steam wallet codes.

Good for you with the spending of the money!
That is correct. Counterstrike is the only game i´ve bought from Steam. I´ts the only game
that´s been interesting enough to make me spend money.

I'm sorry, but at least you aren't out any significant amount of money, and presumably already had the chance to play the game you bought. All you can do is start over with a new account.

Yes, i´ve accepted that and will do so.
But i REALLY wanted that 12 service tag.... :/

You can always add a reply explaining you don't have the required information, and ask if they will accept anything else. The worst they can say is no.

They have said no...
