Adding games back to Library (Fresh OS)
Did a fresh install of Windows 8. I have a 2nd drive just for my games that I have been using for a bit. I was getting tired of deleting content off my 250 gig ssd so I bought a 3tb hdd. All the content is there on my 3tb drive, I just don't know how to add it back to my library (if possible). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

All your purchased games will automatically be in your Library. You can download them again, or copy the files from the old SteamApps folder into the new one.

You can create a new Steam Library folder on your new drive and make sure the games are there too.

Steam -> Settings menu. Downloads Tab, under "Content Libraries".

I would think install Steam on the 3TB HDD and then copy the games to the steam/steamapps/common folder.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wanted to avoid re-downloading since I have a Internet Bandwidth cap of 350 gigs/month. But I have already created a new Steam Library and moved everything into the new folder. But its not showing up in my library still.

What do you mean by "not showing up in your Library"?

Are they not there at all, or are they just not showing installed?

Once you copy a game over to the SteamApps folder correctly you must either launch the game and Steam will discover the files again, or you try to install the game and Steam should find the files installed already (as long as they are in the correct place).

The games are not showing installed. I have the option to install the game only. Once I do that, it continues to download even though i have the content there. The directory is correct too.

Make sure you select the correct place, and that the files are in the correct folders.

You can try running the game from the folder directly, if it requires Steam, a pop up should appear about it.

Also, are you sure it's downloading, and not just discovering everything?

Alright thanks. "Discovering files" for age of empires. Thanks for the quick help!

I had the same issue today, I was in a game and i got the cannot connect to server issue in the middle of the game, I have exited and restarted and after that my steam account was logged off, tried to re-connect for 45 minutes until i deleted the hole steam folder and re-installed steam and it`s ok now! I had a steam skin( I hope it`s not from that cuz I am using it 1 year + now and I never had issue with it), hope this can help someone who has issues logging in!
