Sorry, but you're not getting your items back, you gave away your items to someone else voluntarily.
This isn't a new method, it's the same method used all the time. Trick you into giving away your item.
Or they copied your name and tricked your friend into giving it to them thinking it was you.
Either way, you lost the item as soon as you traded it away for nothing in return.
Like Tirith said, you gave away your item to a fake friend, voluntarily. All trades are final. He or another scammer imposed as your friend. One of the oldest scams there is.
Steam don't seem to be taking much interest in these situations now as the account holder has to demonstrate vigliance and common sense. The protected trading windows and restrictions is the way to do such business but Valve can only go so far and users still falling for this method wont get much sympathy.
Exactly. You told the scammer who your friend was. And the scammer added your friend. The scammer then changed his name to match yours and tricked your friend into giving the item to him. Your friend thought he was giving it back to you, but he really gave it to the scammer.
It's a very simple scam, but effective because people don't pay attention.
Report the scammer by clicking on their profile and going to the "More" button.
Maybe your friend can't trade the supposed item, that he should still have according to you because he has trade limit or a trade ban and can't trade it back to you.
Have your friend check this: http://steamcommunity.com/my/inventoryhistory
contact support, they will tell you pretty much the same thing.
