the disks were obsolete after the first few months of release as there have been all kinds of updates since release.

I will try this thanks!

I am sure there will be some downloads for updates as Silicon stated as well.

Does anyone know how big, file wise, the updates are? I am on a data plan and tether but worry about data usage that is why I was concerned with the complete half Life 2 DL as well as the other items in the set

Very big, the games changed immensely since release. Some games were even ported to a newer game engine. There shouldn't be much difference between a download and patching the outdated files on the disks.

Freaked me out first time I tried installing it - was way back when I had a limited bandwidth... These days shouldn't matter.

I am trying the link above and using this below

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Steam is on my C drive and my DVD drive is "D" so I assume it is right but when I try the install it states something about error, internet.......

Any ideas?

I am new to steam and PC games but getting really upset

Sorry

Think I got it

needed to add (x86) to the command

So I did it and now the updates will download for each? How big might these all be, GB wise?

Team Fortress 2 will likely be 8GB or more. Can't say for the rest, but big. The command you want is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -install D:

Team Fortress 2 is

14 417 MB on disk. ~ 14,07GB.
Download is the compressed 6.8GB.

Thanks fellas!

So even once I install from disk, I am looking at a ton in updates?

Sorry for all the questions but I just cannot go over our data plan. Might have to pack the Alienware up and head to my brothers this weekend lol.

With Team Fortress 2? Yup.

The game got golden (printed on discs) in like 2007.
