Make sure it's not muted and your volume isn't sitting at 0% after unmuting it.
Just unmuting the sound doesn't move the percentage higher.
It's pure desperation!
Exactly my problem. Ingame sounds no problem (except Skyrim; some NPC's or main characters have no sound) but the sound for like the videos in the shop there is no sound.
Assuming you are using Windows 8, left click on the speaker/sound button on your task bar(by default close to the right side). Near the bottom of the menu that pops up, there is a button that says "Mixer", click on it. Look for anything that says Steam, it should be called Steam Client WebHelper. Raise that volume bar up so its level with everything else.
Hopefully this helps, please reply so if it doesn't work I might have another solution.
tacticals solution worked and I wanted to confirm that
Tactical Taco, if you see this, what was your other solution?

Sorry dude, I don't remember, it's been six months(though I probably should have written it down or posted it). All I can say is make sure that everything in volume mixer is maxed out and make suer the video isn't muted and the volume slider on the video is slid the the right. If not, try updating. Windows 10 is a little weird with it, search settings in the search bar, then click the update tab. Check for updates, if there aren't any, just restart anyway, that might fix it. Hope you figure it out.
