No Sound
Hey folks,
my problem is that I have no sound in Steam.
Games, Browsers or anything else work.
But if I wanna watch a Live Broadcast or wanna see a Video of a Game in the shop there is absolutely no sound!
Please help me, I checked everything I know. (Flash Player, Speaker menues, etc.)

Thanks for those who gonna help.

found the solution in the following forum posts. Its just because the sound level is "0" just raise to the right and everything's fine !

This is possibly a stupid suggestion, but..

Make sure it's not muted and your volume isn't sitting at 0% after unmuting it.
Just unmuting the sound doesn't move the percentage higher.

It's not muted and the sound level isn't at 0.
It's pure desperation!

Having the same problem. Sound works fine in games, but no sound in Steam store videos.

Exactly my problem. Ingame sounds no problem (except Skyrim; some NPC's or main characters have no sound) but the sound for like the videos in the shop there is no sound.

Well, this was solved for me and I feel like an idiot. While the sound wasn't muted, the sound volume slider was at 0 (far left). Apparently Steam decided to change the default sound setting to 0. All you need to do is slide the bar to the right. Voila!

Same issue irnoic how no one replied in my thread -.-
Where is the volume button?

Okay none of these replies seems helpful, but I had the exact same issue and I figured it out, this might work for you as well.

Assuming you are using Windows 8, left click on the speaker/sound button on your task bar(by default close to the right side). Near the bottom of the menu that pops up, there is a button that says "Mixer", click on it. Look for anything that says Steam, it should be called Steam Client WebHelper. Raise that volume bar up so its level with everything else.

Hopefully this helps, please reply so if it doesn't work I might have another solution.

updated RealTek Audio driver. Games work fine, all of them. System sounds work fine. But no videos, no sounds in big picture mode. WebHelper is maxxed out and not muted. I am not an idiot and everywhere my volume is at 75%.

Tactical Taco, if you see this, what was your other solution?

Sorry dude, I don't remember, it's been six months(though I probably should have written it down or posted it). All I can say is make sure that everything in volume mixer is maxed out and make suer the video isn't muted and the volume slider on the video is slid the the right. If not, try updating. Windows 10 is a little weird with it, search settings in the search bar, then click the update tab. Check for updates, if there aren't any, just restart anyway, that might fix it. Hope you figure it out.
