Reporting review cheating?
Can you report the developer of a product for trying to cheat the review system? I got an email from a product because the developer is angry he's getting negative reviews on Steam offering free stuff for people who leave positive reviews. Email screenshot: http://puu.sh/gLX3B/d6f6d42810.png

Now I'm not up to date on Steam's TOS for developers but isn't that against the spirit of letting people post reviews if you just pretty much pay people to review your product well?

you can hit the flag on the store page next to embed and report the fraud.

Fraud says it's for stuff like trying to steal your personal info though.

I looked and none of the categories seem to be for violating Steam's rules or whatever, but is this even a thing in the first place?

It's still the closest to it; despite its definition.

be creative.

Sure, alright.

But what about whether or not this is actually against Steam's rules? It sure sounds like it's against the spirit of the review system but I can't find the developer TOS anywhere, if there's even one.

I think we can say we all hope your report is going to have added value.

don't worry about the outcome , just do what you can and hope others do the same.

I'd still say it's pretty much false advertising if you go and remove reviews that are constructive; even if they don't praise the game.

Well it's not that they're removing reviews, it's that the developer is offering compensation for positive ones.

Either way.

It's the same as when Greenlight devs offer keys for votes; still not ok.

you have to rewrite your bad review if you make a positive one , removing it.

OK, gotcha.

how did they get your email anyway?
Sofia Mar 22, 2015 @ 11:28pm
It's a mass email they sent to all their registered users.

I used WTFast several months ago due to ISP issues; it got me banned from WoW and League of Legends for a couple days while I had to juggle their support lines to clear things up.

Like many others this happened to I wrote a review of that product based on warning people that it can get you temporarily locked out of online games if you're unlucky, but they're denying everything and trying to buy positive reviews now.

maybe review there own email policy , they might have broke it with that email.
this looks more like a news letter.

I think even if it was an issue they would just say I can unsubscribe from the mailing list. But I find it kind of funny that being on it may have paid off just now, so I'll stay on it until this thing washes over.
