Steam / Counter-Strike Global Offensive connection issues.
I have a problem connecting to steam servers and any CSGO servers(both community and official matchmaking ones. I can only play Offline with bots). This is persisting for almost a month now and it's getting rather frustrating. I've tried troubleshooting in many ways myself and I will explain below what I have already tried.

First of all when I attempt to log into steam I get an error that there is a connection problem and I cannot log into steam. I managed to find a very strange way to get past that and log in simply by holding onto the little steam window that says 'Connecting to account XXXXX' and shaking it around the screen with my mouse. If whoever reading this is amused and baffled by that, I was too when I first found this, however it works and steam works no problem with friends Online etc.

The real problem is that when I launch CSGO, my client cannot see and/or connect to any servers. Just comes back with an error message saying 'Connection failed after X retries'. I even tried to ping existing CSGO dedicated servers from the command prompt and I just get time outs. My internet connection is fine and I have no trouble browsing any websites.

I have spent a long time trying to troubleshoot this myself, googling the problem etc. Here are things I already tried and hopefully you can come up with an answer for me.

1) Disabling firewall/anti-virus/uninstalling anti-virus (Norton and Windows Defender)
2) Scanning the computer for any malicious software (Removed some adware and that was it)
3) Disabling UAC
4) Port forwarding
5) Restaring my modem
6) Reseting global TCP/IP logs
7) Running steam as admin/compatibility mode
8) Uninstalling existing network adapter drivers
9) Cleaning the windows registry with CCleaner
10) Uninstalling steam and CSGO and installing on different drive
11) Veryfying game cache
12) Tried logging in on another account
13) Looked if my system updated with some conflicting RALINK wireless drivers, however the Windows Update history does not show it
14) Looked through the 'Conflicting software' steam support page and I don't have any of that software installed.
15) Disabling modem's security firewall

As you can see I've run through quite a lot of troubleshooting and I'm all out of ideas. I really hope you can help. The problem started somewhere around the end of February this year. I don't remember anything particular happening on the computer that could possibly cause something like this.

My internet connection consists of a USB modem connected to my computer, which provides LTE internet (about 8mb/s). My ping to google is ~15ms. I run Windows

I'm the guy who tries to help troubleshoot this problem for the guy above and I've been sitting in TeamViewer with him for about 8 hours trying everything above.

In addition:
1) We run steam with "-tcp" parameter which made it work normally, however he still can't see or connect to any game servers.
2) We also tried deleting all steam registry from windows registry.

Try Uninstalling Norton Completely[support.norton.com], and just use the native Windows Security software.

We've already tried that. Point #1 in the main post.

Run Steam (and one of the games) from a Clean Boot[support.microsoft.com].
Done. Still nothing.

exactly what wireless driver are you using, the date may be important.

There was a wireless update for a particular brand a while back that caused issues like this to crop up unexpectedly.
No wireless driver is being used. The PC is connected to a modem through a USB cable. I checked the update history too. Going back when this problem started there were no driver updates.

if not using wireless, disable the device you are referring to...
Not possible. Disabling the modem will disable the whole internet lol.
Also he tried bypassing the modem by using internet from a mobile phone and there was still the same problem.

then you ARE using some type of wireless connection. The name of the adapter and the driver version and date might be helpful.

???

The modem is connected wirelessly to the mobile internet network and the computer is connected through USB to the modem. What the hell do system wireless drivers have to do with this when the system is connected through a WIRE?

You said in item 13 about checking wireless drivers, then you tell me you are not using wireless. then you tell me you are again. Now you are asking what all this has to do with all this???

When you make up your mind, maybe someone else can help you.

The first post also contains this.

My internet connection consists of a USB modem connected to my computer

I guess because it's at the very bottom you did not bother to read it.

"Be as descriptive as possible" -sticky thread

And yeah I checked it, because I found that it causes problems. In what way does it interfere is beyond me. Maybe the driver software itself causes problems and it downloaded automaticly, as Windows Updates like to do? Hence why I checked it.

Moving on.

last post.

What wireless drivers were you referring to in point 13? What exact model/name and driver version, including date. If you don't answer this, I will not post again.
