Unfinished download transfer
Hi,

I'm going to my brother's house this weekend and can't bring my PC. He has an internet connection there but it's not fast and I am wondering if I could do this kind of thing.

I will download a game on his computer with my steam account and when it's time to go home, I will copy the Unfinished downloaded files then paste it to my Steam Folder at home. Will it resume the download with the files that i copied or will it redownload the files?

Copying the game subfolder from beneath the Steam\SteamApps\common folder usually works, but not always.

Alternatively you could use the Steam > Backup and Restore Games menu option which should work without any problems.

You can use the backup function even on unfinished downloads?

No.

If you were to copy the \common\ -folder, I'd suggest copying the appmanifest_<app-ID>.acf file too from within SteamApps\ -folder.

That's the most common reason these things fail, when they fail.

After quitting steam copy all the files in folder "downloading". Now transfer these copied files to the 'downloading' folder of the steam library in another pc.
Make sure the folder was empty and steam wasn't running. After files have been transferred simply install the game like it's a fresh download. Once the download starts, you will find most of the work is done. (The download will continue from where you left).
