Reinstalling CoD MW3 But...

It's been a while since I last played my CoD games and I had a need to play it again. After trying to reinstall my game I kept running into issues (Steam unavailable, account missing, can't find update etc etc) and after fixing all of those it finally allowed me to continue the install. However, it asked for the CD Key even though I read you did not need it after the first install. Just to be sure I turned my house upside down to find that darn book heh. Thankfully I found it and entered the Key only to be told it already exsisted.

After that there is nothing. The only thing it tells me is that "if you have previously registered this cd key to a steam account and do not remember the account name, please click 'retrieve account' to receive and email containing your steam account name"

I have the account already, but the game itself is not installed and it cannot be completed without the cd key (from what I can tell).

So, what do I do heh?

You logged onto the wrong account, You have more than 1 steam account.

Your current account does not have Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. The only game it has it Black Ops.

You need to log into the account you used to register and play Modern Warfare 3 originally. That is why it is telling you the key is already used.

When you try to redeem the key again, it should give you the option to send an email to the account that used the key. Do that and check your emails to see if you get anything.

Hmm, I've tried twice now and no email has popped up save for the one I'm currently on. I have two email accounts, MSN and Yahoo but Yahoo was activated a few years ago to serve primarily for my WoW account. My MSN has been the main email for at least 10 years and I've never had any other account.

I wonder if maybe I attempted to install it before and ran into something that frusterated me (often happens) and I just gave up never finishing the full install.

No idea at this point. I tried logging out and tried the Change user option. Through there I did the "forgot user name" and on the next option gave the product code for MW3. It took it and sent an email to the account, but still have yet to see anything on either email accounts. I guess the next step is to contact steam itself and see what they say.

Maybe I should just reinstall Black ops, at least I know that will work heh
