Steam Profile Comments Virus
Around 20 mins ago i accidentally clicked on a link that someone posted on my steam profile, this was a mistake as it took me to a website that auto download a file and installed it with out my choice. My steam crashed and i was unable to log back in, also my steam shortcut logo was a picture of someones invetory. Come to find out that this was a virus i kind of freaked out, but i started reasearching and it was a pretty easy fix and im going to show you how to fix the problem

Step 1: Try to uninstall Steam as much as you can ( the uninstall might not fully finish but this is not a problem)

Step 2: Re-download a new steam client via the steam website and start to install it ( NOTE- this might take longer than it usually does)

Step 3: once it is done downloading, log in to your old profile. one of the first things that you should do once you get onto the steam homepage is change your email and pass word, also you should take you credit card off your profile just so that no one can access it.

Now you should be finished, All you have to do is reinstall the games you want to play and it should all be back to normal. I hope that this simple fix helped atleast some people that are in the same situation as i was. Thanks for reading and be safe, also DONT CLICK RANDOM LINKS FROM PEOPLE YOU DONT KNOW PERSONALY

You can just simply set your profile to private and only your friends can post comments. Not the public.

Lemme show you that in 1 step:

Make a deep scan with Malwarebytes. Search a destroy. Problem solved.

Or without any steps: Don't click links from strangers to begin with.

Some industrial level antiviruses would help, but hands up how many steam users have those.
On the end it comes down to Malwarebytes which is a anti-malware and not a antivirus. Plus its free.
