Maximum resolution for screenshot capture? 1440p and 4k screenshots

Does anyone know if the steam screenshot tool has a maximum resolution capture? I've been playing the Witcher 2 and FFIV: a realm reborn in 4k and taken some screenshots but they've all uploaded at a maximum resolution of 2048*1152. Does anyone know why this may be? I've searched the forums and have come up with nothing. Cheers

I just stumbled upon your question and figured I'd give a shot answering it in case you never found anything out. From what I've read online Steam saves screenshots in the .jpg format. It's better to save it as a .png file as it captures more of the moment. I use MSI Afterburner for mine now. In setting you can set Onscreen captures to save in the .png format and at the highest resolution of the monitor. Fraps is another piece of software I read you can use too.
