desk uneven, cloth mouse pad. Go thicker?
i have an L shapped desk. it consist of two main pieces and a corner. i have all three tightened down and as level as it can possibly get, but the line dividing them still causes issues when i slide my mouse across it.

when you feel it and look at it, it's level. but when you slide the mouse across it on a Razor Goliathus mouse pad, which the amazon websites stats it's .1 inch thick. it feels like i get air on a skateboard flying off a stairs.

the mouse pad is already pretty thick, but maybe an even thicker pad is the solution? there is this PureTrak Talent on amazon that says it's 1/4 of an inch thick which should be more than double the thickness. do you think this will solve my problem?

i'm open to suggestions that don't result in a mousepad that just slides around (like if a put a table mat underneath it)

Try a hard mat, I use a Razer Exactmat that's made out of aluminium. It has rubber grips on both surfaces so doesn't slide.
You could try the extra thick steelseries mouse mat, it will work over that gap no problem.

i actually have a tab open on that mouse pad right now, but i do wonder about a hard mouse pad. i however an not thrilled about the possibilty that the hard mat will wobble
Used mine on all types of surfaces, a desk with a very uneven surface, bed, carpet without any issue. Another good thing is that if it starts getting cruddy I just stick it in the dishwasher, this current mat has lasted me for over 8 years so far.
ill give the QCK Heavy a try, i haven't had great experiences with hard pads
so i got teh qck heavy, and it didn't solve the problem. is it better? yes. it's alittle more smoothed out. i'm suprized it didn't solve the problem. i might have to resort to something solid with rubber feet to go underneath.

as for the mousepad itself, oh so nice. i thought the 6mm might be a tad uncomfortible but i notice no difference other than this pad is easier to clean, and feels much nicer. i think i like how big it is.

so ill either return the pad and try a hard mousepad, or keep the pad and put something hard underneath it that won't wobble. does anyone have an idea of whats thin, hard, large, and won't wobble?
Old thread, I know, but I ran into a similar problem and thought I'd share my solution for people in he future. I built my own desk and just used 2x6s. The problem is that they're a little warped and even though I tried sanding it down its not perfect. My plan is to buy a desk pad protector and put my mousepad on top of it.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VLG6C8J/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2YF0U0OMY3FU6&psc=1
and I'm also getting an LTT mousepad of a similar size to coverup some imperfections.
Hope this helps
I would just suggest putting some cloth or paper or whatever beneath the mousepad on top of the part of the table that's lower.

that sounds like it would slide around, and also introduce another bump.

I know I am really late, but could you please let me know how this went or if you found any other solutions to this issue? I am currently going through the same problem. Also this may sound stupid but would anyone think stacking two thick mousepads over each other might work or not?

alternatives might be: put a hard flat surface on top, and then your mousepad on that.
I believe I have this issue also. I plan to just go to Walmart and ask them for one of the cardboard boxes that a TV or something came in. Then I'll just cut it down to size. I'll tell you all how it went in a couple days.
Let’s not bump dead threads from 9 years ago. 🙄🤦‍♂️
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
