Does your system become unresponsive? Or just Steam / Origin? (Windows turn white/ Not responding)
Try chkdsk on your drives, especially the one containing Steam + library

Maybe it only happened once, but having to turn off the PC while it's transferring data could cause in corrupted data.
Not sure why you blame your wireless card for the troubles. Is there something you know? Have you searched the forums for any related issues with the card you're using? If the above solution didn't fix any of your problems, and you still blame your Wifi card, try using USB if you're using PCI, or vice versa. If problem persist, there are other options to explore.
I've seen answers regarding turning off Task Offload, but I'm not sure this will work in your case.
Device Manager > Find your Wifi Adaptor > Properties (rightclick) > Advanced > Task Offload (Click on Task Offload and select Disable on the other dropdown)
If it isn't listed there, You should try alternative hardware if you want to get rid of the problem.
What's task offload? What do you mean "if it isn't listed here"?
If you can't find "Task offload" (Ignore the TCP ones), use Ethernet. Or buy a different Wifi adaptor.
