I believe Steam says they won't publicly discuss their take, but that it's something that will be discussed when you get a game on Steam.

All the information you're going to get without going direct to Valve

Most reports indicate the margins are 30% since this is fairly standard across most digital store platforms

Forgive me having a blonde moment here, but do you mean Steam gets 30%, or the developer gets 30%?

Valve gets 30%, publisher gets 70%.

It ends up being basically the same total margins as selling a title in retail. It was so that you didn't get retail partners angry that the digital store's margins were better for the seller which might make them favor digital distirbution over retail.

If you need 100% of your game money than you should make your own platform for that.

Feel free to go elsewhere with your game.
