Will deleting the appcache folder affect my progress in other games?
I don't even know what the "Appcache" folder is for, but I don't know if it will affect my progress in Skyrim or Defiance, but I want to get Sony Movie Studio Platinum working again, because it won't start It always says "missing executable". But if I delete the folder, and I end up having to start my games over again, I am ending the series... except Defiance, I only have one video up.

This post here seems to suggest it's harmless, as the information there is stored server-side:

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache? I realize Sony Movie Studio Platinum isn't a game, but verifying its files wouldn't be a bad idea.

I did the verification thing, and it worked. Thanks.

For the future reference, your savedata is located in userfiles; which is mostly also Steam Cloud -protected. (If Cloud saving is enabled; which is by default.)

If it's not there, then it's with the game's corefiles; or outside of the Steam -folder, like
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\*
Possibly within its
*\My Games
-subfolder.

Then the chance it is in
%appdata%

Steam -folder save locations
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\<app alias>\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userfiles\<user-ID>\<app-ID>\remote\
