How to turn off viruses and one way to speed up your computer. (Windows)
Hi, another post about how to upgrade the security of you, and your computer. As some you may know, viruses can infect your computer even if you never touch any internet browser. You might have to buy all these anti-virus programs that don't catch everything.

This is one nifty way to stop viruses from starting when your computer does.

1. Search the word "msconfig".
2. Select selective startup and un-tick startup.
3. Click Apply.
4. Click Ok.
5. Click Restart.
6. When you restart windows, something should pop up saying about how this mesage will keep coming up. Tick "Don't show me this message", then close that page.
7. If another page opens with those same settings which you edited in steps 2-4, just click cancel.

Here are the pro's and con's of doing this:

pros:
*When your computer turns on, nothing but windows starts, therefore no viruses and programs asking for money.

cons:
*The windows theme will be set to classic, so your computer will be really ugly.

NOTE: There are many ways to speed up computer, also, please don't get viruses, that's for noobs.
UPDATE: I had to edit this cause it would not load anything. What you read above is up to date and is safe.

I later realised that and I have updated my post. The above is safe.
So you're basically disabling all programs that run on startup.

The drivers for my mouse and keyboard and their media keys are now no longer loaded and don't work, various things that I need to run also don't work.

You're basically saying "You can't have a car crash, if you don't start the engine".

This doesn't in any way stop viruses that install themselves over the original .exe file or add themselves to the Scheduled Task list.

You can't just "turn off viruses" it's much more complicated than that.
People cannot catch viruses cause majority of them aren't even viruses to begin with.

Novadays you need to have both antivirus and antimalware. A bit more scared users can also add a anti-spyware to the list. (any better AV + Malwarebytes + SpyBot)

What you are suggesting is can be all said with "run Windows in safe mode" It prevents anything besides basic windows functions from running so the malicious programs cannot be duplicated to keep itself alive.

Anyways, I love those "pro-tip" topics. Cause they OP is usually more clueless about the whole thing as the ones who bother here to post.

Sir, I said most of them. This is a basic defence against non-rootkit viruses.

Sorry but I did not know about this problem.
