Malwarebytes is an Anti-malware, rather than an antivirus combos, but that's just me splitting hairs. There is nothing annoying about Malwarebytes, it doesn't run in real-time, which means that it doesn't pick things up unless you run scans.
You can however always buy the premium version which lasts for a year and protects 3 PCs, it costs $24.95/£17.95, it detects and protects against Malware in real time, blocks hacking and phishing attempts, schedules automatic scanning and offers three different scanning types,
Many people opt for the free version however, which is just as good but doesn't run in real-time.
The combo I was talking about is Avast and Malwarebytes together.
Last time I had a virus (Correction: a TON of viruses), Avast didn't do a very good job of getting rid of them. I had remove them by hand. After that nothing was acting fishy.
Now the oh my gosh part:
IT FOUND 38 MALICIOUS FILES.
Thank you.
How did you remove them by hand last time? Malwarebytes often finds different things to anti viruses.
If you want, for an extra level of reassurance, you can try a scan with Eset Online Scanner.
The way to remove viruses by hand is:
1. Restart your computer in safe mode
2. Search your computer for fishy things
3. Delete them
4. Go out of safe mode and remove fishy scheduled tasks
It doesn't always work.
Btw I forgot to explain something:
Malwarebytes is the thing that found the 38 files, which happened today.
Because Malwarebytes is more geared towards Malware, they tend to find different things than an antivirus which although is an all round defense, focus less on malware and more on general viruses.
Edit: What exactly were the files which were found? It should say their file type.
Yes, but it's not 100% as nothing is but I wouldn't solely rely on it. I personally use Avast PRO with Malwarebytes Free and coordinate scans with Eset.
