Recently played games list is wrong?
This is kind of an odd glitch, but after adding a third-party game to my steam library (in the form of "The Hidden"), my list of recently played games in the library drop down menu was altered to include some games I have purchased (going as far back as at least a year ago) that I have never played. Not all games I've purchased, mind you. Just some -- and particularly, from what I can see, games added to my library via codes from the likes of HumbleBundle and IndieGala. Is there any way to resolve this issue so that my library shows up correctly? It's not an experience-ruining bug, but it's just so annoying to look at given my backlog; I can't tell what I've actually played anymore. :sfsad:

This is an incredibly annoying problem. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter keeps being put on the hotlist for Steam. It claims I purchased it "today", even though it's been there for months now.

I have to wonder if Indie Gala or Humble Bundle is doing something weird involving refreshing old purchases.

To the people that talk about views: I am referring to the list of games that comes up when you either right-click on the Steam icon in the notification area (any version of windows) or the Steam sub-menu off the Start Menu in Windows 7. The OP was talking about a library view, true, but I think his/her problem is triggered by the same bug.
I've been putting up with this for months! I use family sharing too.

I am having the exact same problem with Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter and have been for months. Neither I nor the account on family share own this game. It is listed in my library as purchased today, at all times, and this even seems to update multiple times a day, as it jumps up the list after playing a game (in both the taskbar and controller view recent lists). The listing in my library seems to be for a demo I could install if I wanted to (I don't). Properties show there are no local files and I can't figure out a way to delete the game listing from my library.

Same thing is happening to me with serious sam HD, been like it for months. Even ran steam on 2nd and 3rd pc to see if it was a windows recent list problem but still getting SSHD added to my recent list in steam.

It's 'Beta Access' and 'Sam & Max: 104' for me. Super annoying. A fix for this basic functionality would be pretty cool.

Same exact thing here, Sam & Max: 104 and Source filmmaker. I Don't own them, but a friend who is wharing his library does. The issue is happening on my Laptop as well (even after a full fresh install).

However, running the following command in windows's Run prompt seems to work for now (I found this here https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/618458030681888556/ )

steam://flushconfig

I'll come back here if the issue keeps happening.

Update : As soon as I re-activate the steam sharing from my friend, the games start to apear again in the list.

I know this is an old thread but this is also happening in the steam points shop, and has been for over a year. Anyone know why?

Since the Steam point store didn't exist in 2015 and this is about game lists not updating, maybe you want to explain how this is related to your query or just start a new thread.

Note, if this is about emotes and such not appearing, it's because you have Family View turned on.

It's because it's still the recently played games list that's wrong, but just the one in the steam points shop not my actual one. I was scanning old posts to see if it may be an old glitch in a new section of steam, with an old fix that everyone already knows about. I am also just starting a new thread anyway, but I thought it was worth a try here as well just in case it was a similar glitch instead of something new.

It is most likely just a steam cache thing. Clear cache, and let the thread know. :)

I did this and no change. It's also still games I don't even own, let alone one's I've played recently, so I feel like it's more of a way the points store is programmed. I have made a separate thread now in suggestions to see.

Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing that trouble.
*looking at the OP's posting date*
Yikes.
Oh well.
I'll keep you guys informed... Whoever is alive there.

I love you, Valve.

Reporting in: opting out of the Beta Update did the job. Also fixed the bug where you couldn't open the game's local files. Don't use Beta. Beta bad. Case closed.
