CD key already in use
I have a problem I wanted to use my CD Key to add the game Euro Truck Simulator 2 to my steam account, But when I added it it said that my CD Key was already used at a different account. It told me to send an e-mail to the account where the CD Key in use is, so I did this. But I never got an e-mail about it. So I think my CD key is stolen or there went something wrong I tried to contact the shop where I bought the game and they said it was my problem.
Now is my question what can I do about it, because I really want to add it to my steam account

Where did you buy the CD key from?

at the mediamarkt (a shop in holland) it's a very famous shop in holland and they had a download page for games so you can buy them for less money

Well I've never heard or used of them before, but the problem is their end, they've sold you an already used key. Steam cannot do anything about this, so you have to take it up with Mediamarkt.

It's definitely not Steam's problem; if the CD-key said it was new it's not your problem either. It's the reseller's problem.

If you bought the game in second hand market; then it's your fault, unfortunately.

Was it new; or was it used?

Never buy used.

call up your credit card company and put a stop to the payment for the key then. Since it's not Steam's problem you don't have to worry about your Steam account being frozen for doing so.

He didn't say that you did.

He said that since you didn't buy it from the Steam Store; but from a website that clearly scammed you and isn't going to give you a new CD-key; you should file a dispute.

We wouldn't advice you to do a dispute with Steam Store.

If you bought a physical copy of the game which had a CD key that needed to be activated on Steam, you can try contacting Steam with a photograph of the CD key. They may just direct you back to the retailer, but there's a chance they can help you.

Edit: This only applies if you bought a physical copy of course.
