WHich download amount is correct?Network usage or "downloaded?

I downloaded around 650 mb and put the computer to sleep and then woke it up again...and started the download.
Now,in network usage it says 689 mb
and in downloaded it shows 39 mb out of 6.7 gb downloaded.
Which is correct?

Network usage should say the total # GB you've downloaded the while you've been signed on.
Chance there's some update; for Planetside 2 for example that you've got on your PC?

I have disabled updates(i am new to steam and dota 2 is the first game i am downloading)

Well it did say 650mb/6.7 gb dowloaded but after i made my computer to sleep and wake up, this happened!I dont want to lose what i have downloaded! :-( (thanks to my download getting resetted on windows i have already wasted 5 gb)

6.7gb is download size (all game Dota 2) x2 = size on disk, unzipped 11-12gb
15.9mb - is patch download size

How is work SteamPipe:
client download info about updates, hash sums of patches to %steam%/depotcache,
then move game files, that will be patched to %steam%/steamapps/downloading/%game ID%/,
extract .vpk content, download patch and add updated files, then re-create updated .vpk,
then update appmanifest_%game ID%.acf, and move all updated files back to
%steam%/steamapps/common/%game%

during this process requires free space more than x4 size of the game (i.e.(6.7gb)x4) intensive usage of the disc (and the availability of access rights to files and folders), and to third-party processes such as anti-virus did not interfere in the process, otherwise there is a failure, and it all begins again

the size of the update indicated in client misinterpreted by the user, the actual downloaded volume is always less then game size

if you use Workshop, Dota 2 install Dota 2 Workshop Tools Alpha ~= size of game
but update more often, and updates is bigger (100mb-1,5gb)
