Certain games require an amount of free space that might be taken up as you play the game. You can go download CCleaner (which is free and works wonderfully) and uninstall games you don't play anymore. Or you might be forced to just go buy more memory.

Why are you using a microsoft surface pro?

Because it is pretty cheap for a great computer, and its portable, and great for games! :) also I can put emulators on it! make it a android device! Bluestacks baby!

Did you check your Steam directory if the games are mistakenly installed there too?

well when I go to add and remove all my games are in there. but when I click to remove them, it brings the uninstall screen to steam to uninstall, but they are installed on my external hard drive. what should I do?

I meant for you to check in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\*.* if the games are installed twice, once there and once on your external drive. (leave out the "(x86)" if you have a 32b computer).

Even more important because you get the Steam uninstaller (not game-installer) when trying to un-install a game. I presume you did not have your External connected when trying to un-install?

If the games are not instaled twice, that's where i want to stop asking info and maybe give advise, from a distance.
You know, there's a Hardware and Operating Systems forum on steam. The ppl there should be more profecient in asking the right questions and give advise on this matter.

Thank you Spike. I'm getting old, still recovering from Carnaval (Mardi Gras).

However i doubt removing screenshots, gamesaves & game backups together would free the amount of space Solfinder needs.

  1. Steam game backups can be found in the Backups folder in your Steam directory. That's one folder for all Steam accounts used on that computer.

  2. Screenshots best be found via the Screenshot Library in the Steam UI. You'll have to go there for each game seperate and that for all Steam accounts used on that computer. Trying to find them in the Steam Directory in Program Files takes a lot more time for there's a lot of other infor stored there.

  3. Gamesaves can be found in My Games. If Steam is used in multiple computer- accounts you'll have to check each of the computer accounts where Steam (or non-Steam games) is (are) used.
    • Note, not all Steamgames save in My Games. Some games save in their own folder in SteamApps\Common (or,. for non-Steam games, in their own directory in Program Files)
    • Other games save somewhere else, i thought they were in UserData in the Steam Directory but i can not find them. Anyone knows?

Just download a program like spacesniffer which will let you see WHAT is taking up space on your hard drive.

thanks K.A.R.R that helped... I found my problem. There were old games in my files... I went to Users, then your folder (the one you useally name yourself) then app data then there is a roam folder, and local folders, I deleted a lot of crap in those files, found it through spacesniffer :) thanks
