Lost one disc but i still have the product key, help?

i recently just dug up my old copy of age of empires 3 and i decided i really wanted to play it, i have the product key, disc two and disc three but oops i lost number one, can someone tel me if there is a way to get past this problem without buying another?

You don't have to use the discs at all to install the game; unfortunately it sounds like you can't install the game from the disc this time, but have to rely on downloading it from Steam.

You can for the latter times (if to avoid downloading again) back the game files up once installed again by right mouse clicking the game on your Steam library -> Backup Game Files...

I don't see Age of Empires III on your account though. If you've not yet redeemed it, hit Games -> Activate a Product on Steam; if you have redeemed it, you're on a wrong Steam -account.

I wonder if the 'Age of Empires III: Complete Collection' is the only AoE III that redeems through Steam.

Thank you but when i enter the key it says its invalid, can i not use age of empires 3? can i only use the complete collection?

That answers my question, I guess. Sorry OP, it doesn't seem that you can activate the regular version through Steam.

Only the Complete Edition of AoE 3 can be activated on Steam. If you lost the disc, i'd contact the publisher and ask if you could get a replacment for a small fee.

Damn, i guess it was bound to happen, i mean i have it like 7 years ago and then i moved, do you think the publisher would just let me do an online download and use the product key?

If the CD is broken as you mentioned in the title of the thread then there is nothing much that can be except for buying a new one.

damn, not enough people still play online for me to wanna buy a whole new one, oh yea totally unrelated to the previous question but can i use an xbox 1 controller instead of a 360 on games or no?

Yes, you can. You need to use the micro-USB cord however; given you want to use it on your Xbox One again, you'll have to re-synchronize with the console.
