Can I buy games or steam wallet credit with phone credit? Please help.
I live in Australia and have a phone with heaps of credit which I don't need. Rather than it just sitting there I want to use it something that I would enjoy. Can I use it to buy steam credit or games. I heard there might be apps that can SMS codes to you, which you then put in your steam account?

Thanks.

Steam does not officially support this. It is possible there are third parties that will play the "middle man" for you between your phone credits and Valve/Steam... but if you get scammed by one of those middle-man companies, like you described, don't expect Valve to help you. You're sort of using something like that at your own risk.

Those are the officially supported payment methods that Valve recognises.

Do you know any third parties that do this service?

Nope. You said you heard of such services before! So i thought you might know, i was just letting you know that there is no Valve-approved way to do this and that if you did so it would be at your own risk.

However, i never heard of such services before so, i dunno where you'd find one.

Hey Shauny

I am in OZ and I use an online company called cherrycredits based in singapore to buy steam wallet credit with my mobile phone credit. There are 2 options with them the best rate being boku. $Aus10 buys 5,900 cherry credits. To buy US$5 costs 8800 cheery credits. Expensive but if you have phone credit to use... it's worth it.

I was just checking out the options and noted the sign-up procedure. It was a little odd that they asked for an indication of ID, but I suppose that more and more companies are beginning to implement anti-fraud procedures and deterrents. This can sometimes be a bit of an issue for some genuine customers.
Another option is, I suppose, SteamCoins. I used my SMS credits to purchase SC recently, which was in turn concerted into TF2 keys that I sold on the Marketplace. It has options for three separate SMS purchase options in the PaymentWall section of the Earn Coins region of the website. The best value for credit is AlloPay. However, if some other places are anything to go by, then there will be a purge of this option soon. This happened for Perfect World International recently, p*ssing off players such as myself. They dumped options such as Boku without warning to those companies and customers involved. I haven't seen any explanation regarding this choice as yet.
In the end, it is nice being spoiled for payment options rather than limited. Having the means to convert expiring phone credit into a means to fill your gaming needs is worthy indeed.
