dollar convertion worries
I have been buyin the 50$ steam perpaied cards in Canada since they came out, normaly once, some times twice a month, now i am worried im going to be shorted not just on them, but on the prices in the store

let me be clear here, if i get less then 50$ for buying the 50$ perpaid card, then I wont be buying from steam again, also if the store suddenly jumps up in price, will be the nail in the coffen to

i dont think the wallet convertion is going to be good for steam, but i will wait to see how much i get out of my pre paid cards

No; the fact is CAN is not the same conversion as USD. So consider yourself lucky that Steam converts those to the same amount for CAN.

But since CAN currency will be added to Steam soon, I do expect that to change. But have to wait and see what the exact amount differences and/or game pricing differences are.

Up until this point, CAN have been able to pay the equal amounts in USD, which is just wrong.

its not worng, its not a hard copy of an object, its a digital download, canadians should not be paying 50% more then the US for them

when i buy a 50$ perpaid care(witch btw, due to the low canaidan dollar is 55$ to make up for it) i expect to get 50$ here on steam

i have always used perpaid cards, but if i am only going to get half value on it, on top of a 50% or more rise in price for a digital game, then i wont be buyin steam cards any more, and no dout alot of candians, and users that are gettin effected by it with other currencry additions, feel the same way

I expect prices in the store to go when they convert from USD to CAD. Right now when I buy the exchange is done by the CC company and is an exchange rate based on what what is set by the markets. But mark my word, Canadians will be screwed over with this.

If a game is 49.99 USD with the current exchange rate I would expect to pay around 56.99 CAD factoring the exchange and some profit for the CC company. I am fully expecting that same game to now be 59.99 CAD, well above the current exchange rate. this happens all the time with Canadian prices and is the reason so many cross the border to do their shopping.

I would like the option of paying in either CAD or USD. GoG allows this for all their currencies so you can make the determination on which is the better deal, local currency or allowing for the exchange to be factored. Not sure why Steam can't do this...oh yeah, they do not care about their customers. The number of complaints that are out there for the new crappy store front and their silence on the matter speaks to that.

steam will worry, if they are doing this to apease there stockholders, then the only thing they will be gettin is a goose egg from alot of people

the store front is nothing, people can learn and adapt, but buyin prepaid cards and only getting half value from them, will kill steam

Your steam wallet and store will be in CAD

You put $50 CAD in, you get $50 CAD in your wallet.

That's it. It's not magic. In fact you get MORE money because you're not paying the typical forieng transaction fees and such.

GoG only allows this because they have a single price for products across all regions. This is great if you live in a 1st world country. If you happen not to have won the womb lottery, not so much.

It's not about what currency goes into the wallet and what currency we pay in, that is not magic. You are right in that all the transactions will be in CAD but the prices (in CAD) will be more than if we were to pay USD and have the CC apply the exchange rate. That is our concern.

And again that's going to highly depend on the product

In fact BL:ThePreSequel is CHEAPER to buy in CAD than in USD, since the CAD price is 59.99 but the USD price is 59.99

While The Evil Within is more in CAD vs the USD price taking into account conversions

Aka the answer is 'it depends'
