Anyone else having problems running Sandboxie with Steam?
I used to be able to run Sandboxie to run 2 games off of one PC so 2 people can play at the same time in my house without having to buy a new PC. At around February I noticed I could not play CS:GO without it VAC kicking me after playing for 5 minutes. Ever since an update on May of 2014, it started VAC kicking me from TF2 after 5 minutes or so of playing like CS:GO, but I could play training fine with bots. Then sometime around September, Dota 2 stop being playable, as well as TF2 giving an error whenever I try to join a game, offline or not, making me unable to play the game at all. It is a huge bummer because we got this PC with the intention of buying Sandboxie so that me and my brother or anyone else in the house can play at the same time without having to buy a new PC, but now some of the best and favorite games in my library cannot be played, and there is nothing I can do about it besides by a new PC.

Edit: Also Day of Defeat Source and Counter Strike Source VAC kick me as well.

This is just a guess here, but it may be possible that VAC sees Sandboxie as a tool to cheat, as, for example, someone could run two instances of CS:GO, using one to play competetive, and another to spectate the other team, therefor giving giving the 'cheater' the ability to know where the other team are. Mind you, this is only a guess, as I have no idea what 'Sandboxie' actually is, and I'm only guessing what it is meant to do from your post.

Yes, I assume they changed it because I believe people were using it to disguise hacks in DayZ or something. Sandboxie is basically a program that can run other programs in a sandbox, isolated from the rest of the computer. So if you are browsing the internet sandboxed and download a virus, the virus will stay in the sandbox and can't affect the rest of your PC unless you tell it to, then you can delete the Sandbox's contents.

It sounds like a usefull program, but I can see that it could be used by hackers to carry out their malicious plans.

Normally you cannot run 2 instances of Steam on the same machine, but by running 2 steams in different Sandboxes, Steam cannot tell that you are running 2 instances. So using a sandbox is the only way that you can run 2 instances of Steam on the same machine.

I guess with all of the crazy, albiet creative things these hackers are doing these days, Valve is having to stop people from using anything that could be used for hacking/cheating. It's a shame that It effects people who would never dream to do such a thing aswell.

Yes, it is pretty devastating because a few of my favorite games are unplayable.

first read how sandboxie works once u understand it u know why it is kicking you and how to fix it.

EDIT: it has nothing to do with cheating at all, also the reason why i am not saying what to do or how to do it, is because i am not sure it is appropiate to do so as the client is a allow only one instance and writing about how to get around that might not be ideal to be talking about.

I forgot about this thread. Also, I am fairly certain Sandboxie has a firewall that is blocking VAC.
